Deuteronomy 32

The Song of Moses

1. "Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak; And let the earth hear the words of my mouth.
2. "Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As the droplets on the fresh grass And as the showers on the herb
3. "For I proclaim the name of the LORD; Ascribe greatness to our God!
4. "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He.

As I drove into work this morning, I noticed the green of the grass and leaves. The rain we had this weekend fell needed and welcomed. Sometimes it amazes me to see the rapidity of growth on the heals of a good rain. Plants that had been dormant, surviving as best they could, shoot out within a day of a good rain. They thirst for what is necessary.

When we hurt; when our lives are in shambles; when all that we do ends in ashes, the Word of God can fall on us like rain. [Romans 5:8. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.] There is nothing so big, so bad, so shameful, so hurtful or so embarrassing that God can not love us through it. Christ did not come a die for only the perfect, pretty people but people like you and I, undone and unworthy, scarred and worn.

There was a time in my life when hearing the words "as far as the is from the west" filled my heart with unimaginable joy. As life happens and you find yourself reeling in self-doubt, self-pity and despair turn again to the word of God and know that these words are words of life.

[Psalms 103:10. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His loving kindness toward those who fear Him. 12. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 13. Just as a father has compassion on {his} children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.]

God's promises to us are irreplaceable.
