Trial of Your Faith (sermons)


Matthew 7:22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.Daniel 5:27  Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting (Tekel can mean weighed or shekel).
As Christ tells those listening, you can hear the surprise and disappointment in the voice of the one in the story. "Lord, Lord, have we not...." "You are mistaken." "I have been a regular attender." "I gave my life at camp." "I raised my children in church."

I believe that this man has a better resume of works in his appeal to Christ than I will at the judgement seat. This revelation of the shock of the hearer made me pause and wonder how many from our pews will hear those words and be surprised that they will not see glory. This series attempts to prepare us to know if we have eternal life.
